Russia's inflation was zero percent on August 19-25, 0.2 percent since the beginning of the month and 9.5 percent since the beginning of 2008, the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported today. Meanwhile, the country's inflation for the same period of 2007 was 0.2 percent and the year-to-date inflation stood at 6.8 percent.
According to Rosstat, meat, rice and salt prices saw the most rapid rise last week, having climbed 0.9 percent, 0.7 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, prices for cheese went down 0.1 percent. Prices for nearly all fruits and vegetables went down 3.5 percent on average.
The information was prepared on the basis of a weekly monitoring of consumer prices for 50 key products and services carried out by Rosstat in 265 cities of Russia. |
