The buildings of the hotel, located in the very heart of St.Petersburg on Nevsky Prospekt and Mikhailovskaya Ulitsa (Street), was built in the 1820s. The hotel was completely renovated from 1989 until December of 1991, when it reopened as the Grand Hotel Europe. Both the interior of the hotel with its turn-of-the-century art nouveau style and the magnificent neoclassical facade were restored splendidly. The building itself has been classified as a national and cultural landmark and is to be preserved as a historical monument.
