Pechora coal field is located on the territory of the Komi Republic. Its total reserves of coking and steam coal exceed 300bln tons. A large portion of oil and gas deposits of Timan-Pechora province is being developed in the Republic (the rest of the province being on the territory of Arkhangelsk Region and Nenets Autonomous Area). Oil resources of the Republic constitute a half, and gas resources - one third of all resources of Northern Europe. Besides oil and coal, the region has manganese, rock-salt and crystalline silica mining, as well as a number of bauxite and titanic ore deposits. The Republic has the biggest and best in quality commercial reserves of wood in European Russia. The wood reserves total 2.9bln cubic meters, or 32% of reserves of the North-Western Federal District. |
