Profile: NOMOS-BANK is one of the leading universal private banks in Russia. During the last several years NOMOS successfully kept its place among the top ten largest privately owned Russian financial institutions according to asset size. In June 2008, NOMOS placed an issue of shares increasing the Tier I capital size by RUB 4.7 billion (circa US$ 200 million or EUR 130 million). Later, in November 2008 NOMOS received a ten-year RUB 5 billion (circa US$ 200 million) subordinated loan from its shareholders following a similar loan from Vnesheconombank (VEB) in the amount of RUB 4.9 billion thus increasing the size of Tier 2 capital. Furthermore, in August 2009 NOMOS received a new subordinated loan from its shareholders amounting to US$ 260 million thus again enlarging the Bank’s liquidity cushion and enhancing the capital base. As a result at end 2009 total equity of the Bank reached RUB 36.61 billion (close to US$ 1.21 billion or EUR 0.84 billion). Subsequently, in April 2010 NOMOS placed a new subordinated LT2 Eurobond issue amounting to US$ 350 million (see Eurobonds section), proceeds of which were used to repay the US$ 260 million shareholder loan and to further strengthen the Bank’s capitalization. Today NOMOS-BANK remains one of the most highly capitalized banks in Russia (with total capital adequacy ratio exceeding 22.5%). NOMOS-BANK was founded in 1992 and has developed into one of Russia’s leading banks. As at 01 January 2006 NOMOS-BANK was among the twenty banks in Russia in terms of total assets. NOMOS provides a range of corporate and retail banking services (including the provision of loans and deposit-taking), as well as engaging in securities and foreign exchange trading, trade and export credit agency finance, precious metals operations, investment banking and leasing. As at 01 January 2006, NOMOS-BANKs network in Russia comprised the head office and two additional offices in Moscow and ten branch offices within Russia. NOMOS-BANK is licensed and registered with the CBR under registration number 2209. NOMOS is also authorised by the CBR to carry out operations with precious metals. In addition, NOMOS-BANK is licensed by the Federal Commission for Securities Market to act as a broker, dealer, trust manager and a depository in the Russian securities market. NOMOS-BANK also holds a licence as a commodities exchange broker to trade futures and options issued by the Ministry for Antimonopoly Policy and Business Support of the Russian Federation and a licence issued by the Federal Security Service authorising NOMOS-BANK to conduct operations with the use of data containing state secrets. NOMOS-BANK is a member of the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange («MICEX»); the Russian Trading System («RTS»), a remote electronic stock trading systems; the Chamber of Commerce and Securities Market Participants; the National Stock Exchange Association; the Association of Participants in the Promissory Notes Market; the Association of Russian Banks; the Union of Moscow Banks; and the Association of Regional Banks of Russia. NOMOS-BANK is licensed by the State Customs Committee of the Russian Federation to act as a guarantor to the Russian customs authorities in relation to the import and export activities of Russian companies. NOMOS-BANK is also one of the top five Russian banks licenced to work under the programmes of «Rosoboronexport», the only organisation in Russia having a licence to export armaments. It has been a member of SWIFT since 2000 and a full (principal) member of the VISA International payment system since 2001.
