ING sponsored a Grandmaster Charity Evening as part of the chess festival dedicated to the memory of former World Champion Mikhail Tal.
The event, organized with the support of Russian Chess Federation, took place on November 23, 2007 in one of the most unique locations in Moscow - the top floor reception hall of the GUM department store, overlooking Red Square. During the evening, two of the world's leading chess grandmasters, former World Champion Anatoly Karpov and Joel Lautier, multiple chess champion of France gave a simultaneous display to Russian orphans and representatives of Russian and international business circles.
All proceeds from the evening will be donated to the charity fund Hope Worldwide, which has been looking after Russian orphans for more than ten years.
